Absolutely no danger! We have designed and tested our intake assemblies to be very safe. Our ‘Watercannon’ 3 hp pumps 160 gallons per minute through a 2” intake hose with 3 hydro-flo suction safety covers. Each cover is safety-rated for 200 gallons per minute (totaling 600 gallons of flow capacity – far more than necessary). Even though we only sell our ‘Watercannon 3’ to supervised facilities, with instructions to discourage anyone from touching the unit while operating, kids who might swim up to the three hydro-flo safety intake covers will feel very little suction. Additionally, these 3 oversized safety covers are strategically designed in a fanning position, preventing the possible blockage of all 3 covers by any one person.
The commercial ‘Watercannon 3’ unit is designed to operate only from the deep end of your pool facility, producing a safe, high-volume waterfalls into the shallow end of the pool, where kids can play under it, waist-high. Every unit sold requires a dedicated 220-volt, 20 amp dedicated plug to be installed by a licensed electrician. Each unit’s electrical waterproof safety cord is custom manufactured to be 3 feet less the distance from this dedicated plug to the edge of the deep end of the pool, where the unit will always operate from. This tightly measured cord will prevent any forward travel. Additionally, it’s very important, once the unit is in its operating poolside position, to tightly tie-off any unnecessary and additional length of cord, so as to prevent any forward travel of the unit towards the water.

Very simply, it’s only a matter of 4 easy steps.
If your pool water temperatures are undesirably warm (say from 85 – 98 degrees), utilizing early morning and late afternoon into early evening hours, can reduce water temps considerably. Many variables, of course, come into play. But one-degree reduction per hour is an average for most moderately sized pools, concerning both units after a 2 to 3 hour initial operation. Allowing the ‘Watercannon’ to operate throughout the entire 8 – 12 hour evening period will guarantee an acceptable reduction in water temps and a more wholesome quality of water supply… you can now control your water temperatures!
Most facilities, in addition to operating during evening hours, for the purposes of cooling and refreshing water temperatures, will operate during daytime hours to provide a water feature for swimming refreshment and aeration purification, offsetting the many undesirable results from large numbers of children swimming. (We all know what children and even some grown-ups do, while swimming…) Daytime use will produce a slight evaporation factor, which seems to balance with advantages reported, concerning reduction in chemical use, water purity, refreshment, and cooler temps, etc. A four to five-hour daily operation regiment is recommended to benefit most pool facilities.
The unit is very quiet, with only a slight humming sound from the motor. You only hear the sound of water leaving the nozzles, and falling back into the shallow end of the pool. The sound of the waterfalls is relaxing, and can eliminate undesirable surrounding sounds.
