Effects of Warm Pool Water
While warm water can provide comfort to swimmers, excessively warm pool water can also have negative effects:
- Heat stress: Swimming in excessively warm pool water can lead to heat stress, especially during intense workouts, causing fatigue, dizziness, and dehydration.
- Increased risk of skin infections: Warm water creates an ideal environment for bacteria and other microorganisms to thrive, putting swimmers at a higher risk of skin infections.
- Reduced endurance: High water temperature accelerates the body's thermoregulatory processes, causing faster fatigue and reduced endurance.
- Heat-related illnesses: Prolonged exposure to extremely warm pool water can result in heat exhaustion or heat stroke, both of which require immediate medical attention.
